TURISTIC GUIDE: ALL PLANS AND ALL YOU HAVE TO SEE IN PEÑAFIEL

We are just 5 minutes from the capital of Ribera del Duero, Peñafiel. This town is known and stands out above all else, for being a place very close to the world of wine and one of the most prestigious Designations of Origin that exist, the Ribera del Duero wine.

There are many things to do in Peñafiel in a weekend getaway or more days: enjoy history, enology or gastronomy are just some of the strengths that will make your visit to Peñafiel unforgettable.

OUR 8 PROPOSALS TO DISCOVER PEÑAFIEL’S CHARM

PEÑAFIEL`S CASTLE

Located as it could not be otherwise in the upper part of the town, it is considered one of the best preserved castles in Spain. Border for many years between the Christian kingdom and the Muslim, your visit is the first thing that you must sign as mandatory to do in Peñafiel. Apart from the castle itself, from here you can enjoy magnificent views of the fields of Castile, the surrounding vineyards or Peñafiel itself and the Duratón River.

Guided tour price: € 3.3

Guided visit combined with Provincial Wine Museum: € 6.6

PROVINCIAL WINE MUSEUM

Located inside the same castle, it is one of the best wine museums that exist. You can discover and learn more about the interesting world of wine in an interactive and fun way.

In addition, there is the possibility of also doing a guided tasting of Ribera del Duero wines.

PEÑAFIEL VILLAGE

The town itself is small and therefore can be walked. We recommend to walk it, live it and enjoy it. Among the best things to visit in Peñafiel is the Convent of San Pablo, a magnificent Gothic-Mudejar ensemble that you can also visit inside, where you will find the tomb of Infante Juan Manuel. The guided tour costs € 1.5 and the ticket can be purchased at the Tourist Office of Peñafiel.

In the town there are also other religious buildings of interest such as the Convent of Las Claras or the Church of San Miguel Arcángel.

La Plaza del Coso

is another icon of the town. This square with wooden balconies, the site of many of the festivities of Peñafiel, is, apart from the most beautiful square you will find, one of the sites with the best views of the Peñafiel Castle, ideal for making your postcard photographs.

Casa Museo de la Ribera

is another really interesting space where you can have a fun time and also learn. It is a house of the early twentieth century in which theatrical performances of what life was like a century ago are made. The visit is made by Mariano and Tomasa, the two actors who accompany visitors on this great trip. Prior reservation is necessary and you can check prices and schedules on the tourism website of Peñafieli

WINE TOURISM

The wineries are the main attraction of Peñafiel and surroundings. The wine here is a culture and in our area there are many wineries of different types that can be visited, from small family wineries to more modern and industrialized design warehouses, some as important and known as Protos, Portia or Pago de Carraovejas.

In our special section of wineries we will recommend some so that you can organize your visits in advance.

GASTRONOMY

In parallel to the enological richness of the Ribera del Duero, we can not ignore the gastronomy, another of the main activities to do in Peñafiel. In this area, the lamb is well known. Both in Peñafiel and in the surrounding villages, you can find grills in which to taste this exquisite Castilian delicacy accompanied by some local wine.

In our restaurant, we also offer a space where you can savor fusion and market cuisine of the highest quality without leaving the hotel.

VILLAGES ARROUND

In the surroundings of Peñafiel you will also find other interesting towns to make a small route. Some of these towns are Curiel de Duero (which houses two castles) or Santa María de Valbuena and its Cistercian monastery.

And a little further, a little less than 1 hour by car, you have places of great interest such as Valladolid itself, Olmedo and already in the province of Burgos, Aranda de Duero or Lerma, so Peñafiel is also a good point of departure to visit some of the most interesting areas of the Castilian plateau.

SPA & RELAX

And after these intense visits, nothing better than returning to the hotel and enjoying our spa for private use and our wide range of treatments that we put at your disposal and that will be the perfect complement for your visit to Peñafiel.
